Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Edge Higher Premarket Thursday

09:14 AM EDT, 10/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were edging higher premarket Thursday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) and Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) up 0.2%.

Jack in the Box (JACK) shares were up more than 2% after the company said it signed a deal to sell its Del Taco unit to Yadav Enterprises for $115 million in cash.

Fossil (FOSL) said it extended the expiration date on its offer to exchange its senior 7% debt notes by one week until Oct. 22. Shares of Fossil were down more than 37% pre-bell.

Birkenstock ( BIRK ) said it signed a deal to acquire its distributor Birkenstock Australia. Birkenstock ( BIRK ) stock was 0.1% higher premarket.
