Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Flat to Higher Premarket Tuesday

08:59 AM EST, 12/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were flat to higher premarket Tuesday as the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) was inactive and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) was 0.2% higher recently.

Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Project Kuiper is being considered as another option by British Airways owner IAG to equip its fleet with satellite-powered Wi-Fi, Bloomberg reported, citing an interview with the airline group's head of innovation, Annalisa Gigante. Amazon.com ( AMZN ) shares were up 0.3% premarket.

Starbucks ( SBUX ) faced a strike that could expand to more than 300 of its US stores on Tuesday, news outlets reported, citing a union representing more than 10,000 employees. Starbucks ( SBUX ) shares were 0.1% lower pre-bell.

Limoneira ( LMNR ) shares were down more than 4% even after it reported overnight a narrowed fiscal Q4 adjusted loss as revenue increased during the period.
