Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Higher Pre-Bell Monday

09:13 AM EST, 01/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were higher pre-bell Monday with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) up 0.3% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) up 1.1%.

Smart Share Global ( EM ) shares rallied by 45% after the company said its board has received a preliminary non-binding proposal from Trustar Mobile Charging and affiliates to acquire all remaining shares of the company that they do not yet own.

Walt Disney ( DIS ) and streaming provider FuboTV ( FUBO ) are nearing an agreement to combine their online live TV businesses, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions. FuboTV ( FUBO ) shares surged past 220% pre-bell.

Alico ( ALCO ) shares were up 14% after the company said it is closing its Alico Citrus division to shift its focus to diversified land usage and real estate development.
