Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Lean Lower Premarket Tuesday

09:13 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were leaning lower premarket Tuesday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) slightly declining and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) down 0.2%.

United Natural Foods ( UNFI ) shares were up more than 5% after the company reported a narrower fiscal Q4 adjusted loss than expected by analysts and net sales that topped consensus.

Coty ( COTY ) stock was up more than 3% after the company said it has initiated a strategic review of its consumer beauty division to explore options including partnerships, spin-offs, or a sale.

Alibaba Group Holding ( BABA ) is in talks to acquire the top 13 floors of the One Causeway Bay building in Hong Kong from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for about 7 billion Hong Kong dollars ($900 million), the Hong Kong Economic Times reported, citing unnamed market sources. Alibaba Group ( BABA ) shares were up more than 1% pre-bell.
