Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Pre-Bell Tuesday

09:14 AM EDT, 10/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed pre-bell Tuesday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) easing 0.03% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) advancing by 0.2%.

Coca-Cola (KO) shares were up nearly 3% after the company posted higher fiscal Q3 comparable earnings and net operating revenue.

General Motors ( GM ) stock was up more than 10% after the company reported Q3 adjusted earnings and revenue that topped analysts' expectations, and raised its guidance for 2025 adjusted earnings per share.

Unilever ( UL ) shares were down more than 1% after the company said it is delaying the planned demerger of its Magnum Ice Cream business due to the ongoing US federal government shutdown.
