Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Premarket Monday

09:16 AM EDT, 06/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed premarket Monday with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) 0.2% lower and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) slightly advancing recently.

GameStop ( GME ) surged past 70% after trader Keith Gill posted on his Reddit account "Roaring Kitty" a screenshot showing 5 million shares bought at $21.27 each, amounting to an almost $116 million bet on the game retailer.

Starbucks ( SBUX ) said Friday that Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella had resigned from the company's board, effective Thursday. Starbucks ( SBUX ) was down 0.4% pre-bell.

Keurig Dr Pepper ( KDP ) said Friday that it agreed to acquire the production, sales and distribution assets of Kalil Bottling. Keurig Dr Pepper ( KDP ) shares were unchanged premarket.
