09:23 AM EDT, 07/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were falling pre-bell Monday as the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) was down 0.2% recently.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was 0.6% lower and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was up 0.7%.

Huntington Bancshares ( HBAN ) has entered into an agreement to acquire Veritex ( VBTX ) in an all-stock deal valued at $1.9 billion, the companies said. Shares of Veritex Holdings ( VBTX ) were up nearly 19% and shares of Huntington Bancshares ( HBAN ) shares were down nearly 3% premarket.

First Community (FCCO) and Signature Bank of Georgia have signed a deal under which First Community will acquire the latter in an all-stock transaction for about $41.6 million, the companies said. Shares of First Community were down more than 1% pre-bell.

Burford Capital ( BUR ) shares were 0.6% lower after the company said it completed a new issuance of $500 million of 7.5%, eight-year senior notes.
