The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) dropped 1.3%.

In corporate news, Eli Lilly ( LLY ) has agreed to acquire Verve Therapeutics ( VERV ) in a deal worth up to about $1.3 billion to boost its cardiovascular portfolio. Eli Lilly ( LLY ) shares fell 1.4%, and Verve jumped 78%.
