05:49 PM EDT, 05/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sempra ( SRE ) unit Sempra Infrastructure said the US Department of Energy issued a permit to the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 development project in Texas allowing the export up to 13.5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas to countries without a free-trade agreement with the US.
The permit "is a major regulatory milestone" for the proposed LNG project amid "steady progress" toward reaching a final investment decision, Sempra ( SRE ) said Thursday in a statement.
The development "remains subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, including completing the required commercial agreements," securing and maintaining all necessary permits and obtaining financing, among other factors, the company said.
Sempra ( SRE ) shares fell 1.2% in after-hours trading.
