09:42 AM EDT, 07/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sempra ( SRE ) unit Southern California Gas said Wednesday that it and Evoloh have completed a research project aimed at cutting electrolyzer manufacturing costs by up to 25%.

The company said Evoloh's anion exchange membrane electrolyzers result in a "reliable" supply chain and cheaper hydrogen production, making the stacks scalable to 24 megawatts each.

Evoloh plans to scale up production at its new facility in Lowell, Massachusetts, aiming for 3.75 gigawatts per year by next year and up to 15 gigawatts by 2027, with megawatt-scale tests at its Santa Clara headquarters later this year.
