06:04 AM EDT, 06/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- SolarEdge ( SEDG ) fell more than 7%, Enphase (ENPH) retreated over 4% and Sunrun ( RUN ) lost more than 3% on pre-bell Monday after media reported that the Senate's new tax and spending bill requires wind and solar projects to be fully up and running by the end of 2027 to get clean energy incentives.
This is a stricter rule than before, which only required projects to begin construction by the end of 2025.
If passed, the change would force developers to speed up project completion or risk losing essential federal support, the reports said.
The bill also imposes a new tax on wind and solar projects that fail to meet strict rules banning the use of Chinese materials, marking a major setback for the renewable energy industry.
