09:56 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Shell (SHEL) said Tuesday its Shell Trinidad and Tobago unit announced its final investment decision on the Manatee project, an undeveloped gas field in the East Coast Marine Area of Trinidad and Tobago.

Manatee is expected to boost Shell's integrated gas business in the ECMA, the company said, adding it plans to increase its liquefied natural gas business by 20% to 30% and liquefaction volumes by 25% to 30% by 2030, compared to 2022, as stated in its 2023 Capital Markets Day.

Manatee is scheduled to begin production in 2027 and is expected to reach a peak output of around 104,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the company said.
