07:53 AM EDT, 06/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sherritt International ( SHERF ) on Monday said Sir Richard Lapthorne retired as board chair due to personal reasons.

Sir Richard chaired the board since June 2019.

Sherritt ( SHERF ) last week reported that Institutional Shareholder Services recommended that shareholders vote for all resolutions and director nominees ahead of the annual and special meeting of shareholders. It noted Glass, Lewis & Co. had previously recommended shareholders vote for all resolutions. According to Sherritt ( SHERF ), a "self-interested shareholder" SC2, an affiliate of Seablinc Canada, a supplier to the Moa joint venture in Cuba, was seeking control of Sherritt ( SHERF ) "for its own gain".
