12:48 PM EDT, 04/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sibanye Stillwater ( SBSW ) , the South African-based mining company, said Thursday that it has started consultations with labor groups as a proposed restructuring of its operations in the country could impact over 4,000 employees and contractors.

The company said it has reduced its operational footprint in Southern Africa region and plans to realign its regional services to fit current operations. The miner also said it needs to address losses at its Beatrix 1 shaft and Kloof 2 plant as identified by an ongoing business review.
