08:23 AM EST, 01/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sierra Metals ( SMTSF ) said Wednesday that production rose for most of its metals production in the fourth quarter.
The company produced 13.5 million pounds of copper in the three months ended Dec. 31, increasing from 12.1 million pounds in the year-ago period. Zinc production rose to 12.3 million pounds from 9.6 million pounds while silver production grew to 544,000 ounces from 468,000 ounces. Gold output slipped to 4,009 ounces from 4,708 ounces and lead production fell to 2.4 million pounds from 2.5 million pounds.
"Overall, our strong operating performance -- underpinned by our commitment to safety -- resulted in total production exceeding guidance for 2024," CEO Ernesto Balarezo said. "As we begin the new year, the investments we have made at our operations have set the stage for significant value creation in 2025 and beyond."
Sierra's share price rose 4.9% on Tuesday to $0.86 on the TSX.
