05:32 PM EDT, 03/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sigma Lithium ( SGML ) on Wednesday said it is selling 22,000 tonnes of lithium to an undisclosed buyer for a premium price.
The Brazilian lithium producer said the buyer is paying US$1,160 per tonne, prior to the addition of a value-added tax, with delivery to a port warehouse made within two weeks.
Sigma said its low-carbon lithium production is attracting buyers willing to pay a premium for its output.
"This price is final and non-provisional and represents a meaningful increase over the previous premium prices achieved. As a reference, the final price net of VAT is equivalent to 8.75% of the LME Lithium Hydroxide CIF," the company noted.
Sigma shares closed up C$0.90 to C$16.53 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
