04:46 AM EDT, 10/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Singapore's ministries of law and digital development and information proposed a new law Wednesday that they said would "empower victims of online harms to seek timely relief and obtain redress."
This will be achieved through the creation of a new online safety commission, or OSC, that would administer a reporting mechanism that will allow affected users to seek "timely remedies from specified online harms," according to a statement.
"The OSC will be empowered, upon receiving a report from a victim, to issue directions to address the online harm," the statement said. "These include directions to take down the harmful content, to restrict the perpetrator's online account, or to allow the victim to post a reply."
The measure would help block harmful content on Meta Platform's (META) Facebook, TikTok and other platforms, news outlets reported.
Meta didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
