10:46 AM EDT, 08/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Skyward Specialty Insurance Group ( SKWD ) said Tuesday it was supplementing its primary business as a property and casualty insurer with its entry into the mortgage insurance and reinsurance market.

The move follows Skyward earlier this year hiring Jean-Philippe Latour as a senior vice president, adding his decade-plus experience developing reinsurance offerings for the primary mortgage market and government-sponsored enterprises. Latour also has worked in mortgage banking, securitization and interest-rate risk management, the company said.

Shares of Skyward rose 4% in recent trading activity Tuesday.
