08:13 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- SM Energy ( SM ) said Monday that Chief Executive and President Herbert Vogel will retire as CEO March 1, and that he has already resigned as president as of Sept. 4.

Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth McDonald is also assuming the president role, the company said, adding that it plans to promote McDonald to CEO following Vogel's retirement.

Vogel will continue to serve on the board until SM Energy's ( SM ) annual stockholders meeting in May, at which point he will become an executive adviser, the company added.
