SmartStop Self Storage to Buy Argus Professional Storage Management

05:49 PM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- SmartStop Self Storage REIT ( SMA ) agreed to buy Argus Professional Storage Management for $21 million in cash and operating partnership units, along with an $11 million earnout based on future performance.

Argus manages 227 facilities across 26 states, SmartStop said in an investor presentation.

The combined entity will operate 460 self-storage properties across North America, SmartStop said Wednesday in a statement.

The combination is expected to be accretive immediately to adjusted funds from operations, SmartStop said in the statement.

The transaction is expected to close in October.

SmartStop rose 2% in after-hours trading.
