03:01 PM EDT, 09/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Snap (SNAP) said Tuesday it has introduced the fifth generation of Spectacles, its new standalone augmented reality glasses that are powered by its new operating system, Snap OS.

"Through the new Spectacles app, you can use your phone as a custom game controller with Lenses, launch Spectator Mode so friends without Spectacles can follow along, mirror your phone screen, and more," the company said.

Spectacles are available from Tuesday as part of its Spectacles Developer Program that is available in the US for $99 dollars per month with a one year commitment, Snap said. A subscription provides access to Spectacles and includes Snap support.
