Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $1.43.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $3.49 billion, down from $ 3.64 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $3.55 billion.

Sonic Automotive ( SAH ) raised its quarterly cash dividend 17% to $0.35 per share, payable on Jan. 15 to stockholders of record on Dec. 13.
