04:35 AM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sony Group's ( SONY ) Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing unit plans to resume operations at its Kumamoto Technology Center in stages, beginning Aug. 4, after the July 28 earthquake in the region, according to a Friday statement.

The unit has started recovery work at the center after completing safety inspections of buildings and facilities, and expects the Kumamoto Technology Center to return to pre-earthquake operations by mid-August, the company said.
