Sony Shares Fall Amid Potential Regulatory Concerns Surrounding Paramount Bid
May 7, 2024 10:00 AM

12:30 PM EDT, 05/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sony ( SONY ) shares fell more than 3% in recent Tuesday trading amid concerns about potential regulatory scrutiny of its joint bid with Apollo Global Management (APO) to acquire Paramount Global ( PARAA ) .

Paramount shares dropped more than 2%, while Apollo shares rose nearly 2%.

Sony ( SONY ) and Apollo have reportedly made a $26 billion all-cash bid for Paramount, which includes CBS, which is covered by restrictions on foreign ownership of broadcasting.

The bid "could potentially involve foreign ownership questions, though carve-out and divesture of those operations would be a solution," Barrington Research said in a recent report.

Sony ( SONY ), Apollo and Paramount did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Price: 81.91, Change: -2.93, Percent Change: -3.45
