04:04 PM EDT, 10/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sony Group's ( SONY ) PlayStation late Tuesday said it will is closing Neon Koi and Firewalk studios developing interactive and mobile games to better focus and expand other PlayStation and personal computer game franchises.

In an email message sent to Sony ( SONY ) employees, Hermen Hulst, the chief executive of the company's Studio Business Group, said first-person shooter games are a particularly competitive genre, but "unfortunately, we did not hit our targets" with those titles.

Hulst also said Sony ( SONY ) will try to find new jobs for some employees displaced by the closures.
