Sony's Bungie Unit Cuts 17% of Workforce Over Rising Costs

12:56 PM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sony's ( SONY ) Bungie video game unit said Wednesday that it is cutting its workforce by 17%, effective immediately.

"Due to rising costs of development and industry shifts as well as enduring economic conditions, it has become clear that we need to make substantial changes to our cost structure," the company said in a statement.

Bungie said the move will eliminate 220 jobs, including executive positions.
