South India cement hike aimed at passing on higher input costs
Mar 1, 2021 6:33 AM

It has been learnt that cement companies may hike prices in South India by around Rs 25-40 a bag. K Ravi, MD of NCL Industries spoke to CNBC-TV18 to give his outlook on the potential price rise.

Ravi said, "We are proposing, in fact closely watching that we will be taking a price revision anywhere between Rs 25-40 per bag. We are forced to take the hike because of diesel prices, as transport costs have gone up so we have no choice but to revise cement prices."

On price increase on trade and the non-trade front, he said, "Rs 30-40 is going to be the difference between trade and non-trade. In our case the trade is about 70 percent and non-trade is only 30 percent."

Speaking about waste heat recovery systems (WHRS), Ravi said, "In March we had commissioned trials, which will end in March, that’s when we will be able to stabilise the whole system."
