South Pacific Metals Up 1.5% As Obtains Injunction to Protect Exclusive Rights on EL2558 Licence Area
Aug 14, 2025 11:59 AM

02:31 PM EDT, 08/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- South Pacific Metals ( SPMEF ) was edging higher Thursday after saying its subsidiary Kainantu Resources, has obtained an interim injunction from the Papua New Guinea national court restraining K92 Mining ( KNTNF ) from "interfering with or contravening" Kainantu's exclusive exploration rights within its EL 2558 licence area.

A statement noted the action was undertaken following what South Pacific perceived to be K92 trespassing on the property. According to the statement, EL 2558 borders K92's active drilling and gold producing operations to the northeast.

South Pacific has also filed for declaratory relief to confirm that Kainantu Resources is the exclusive registered holder of the licence, and that it alone holds surface and subsurface mineral exploration rights within the licence boundaries.

The matter will return to court on Aug. 22.

South Pacific is up $0.01, to $0.69, on the TSX Venture Exchange. K92 was down 1.5% to near $14.70, on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
