06:49 AM EST, 01/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- AccuWeather said Wednesday that it is estimating damage from wildfires in Southern California have caused $52 billion to $57 billion in damage.
The Palisades fire has burned 17,000 acres while the Eaton fire has scorched 10,000 acres, the weather forecasting service said. The fires have killed at least five people, injured many more, destroyed hundreds of buildings, and displaced thousands, AccuWeather said.
Citing state officials, AccuWeather described the Palisades fire, fueled by high winds, as the most destructive in Los Angeles County history.
