09:23 AM EDT, 08/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southern (SO) subsidiary PowerSecure said Thursday the microgrid at its campus in Durham, North Carolina, will begin running the PowerBlock generator on renewable hydrotreated vegetable oil, or HVO, starting this month as part of a new clean energy initiative.

The company said the move to HVO, a renewable fuel that mimics conventional diesel, is part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable energy practices.
