Southern Unit to Provide $122 Million in Savings to Customers Following Lowered Corporate Tax Rate
Sep 6, 2024 1:08 PM

12:05 PM EDT, 09/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southern Co. ( SO ) said Thursday its Georgia Power unit will provide $122 million in savings to its customers starting Jan. 2025 after the Georgia Public Service Commission's approval following state tax law changes that lowered the company's corporate tax rate.

Georgia Power will provide near-term rate relief to customers, with an estimated savings of $2.25 per month for residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, partially offsetting the 2022 rate increase, the company said.
