Southwest Airlines Acquires SAFFiRE Renewables

03:14 PM EDT, 03/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said Thursday it has acquired SAFFiRE Renewables as part of the investment portfolio of its subsidiary Southwest Airlines Renewable Ventures.

SAFFiRE is part of a US Department of Energy project to create and scale renewable ethanol, which can be further refined into sustainable aviation fuel, the company said.
