07:32 AM EDT, 09/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) is considering offering long-haul international flights and premium airport lounges as part of initiatives to meet evolving customer requirements after the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Executive Officer Robert Jordan said at a conference Thursday, according to a FactSet transcript.
Jordan said the airline, which uses Boeing 737 aircraft for its mostly domestic flights, is also looking at widebody aircraft for the long-haul flights, although the company could be initially more "risk-tolerant" and use a narrowbody for the international service, the transcript showed.
Additional global partnerships are also in the pipeline, but the airline wants to serve international destinations itself, Jordan said.
These plans are still in the early stages, while other initiatives executed in the last 11 months are expected to contribute to earnings before interest and tax in 2026, Jordan added.
