03:46 AM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said Monday it will apply to the US Department of Transportation for a new, daily nonstop route between Washington and Las Vegas, one of five new round-trip flights from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport authorized this year by the Federal Aviation Authority.

The airline said it would offer travelers lower fares than competitors on 175-seat Boeing 737 flights from the capital to Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport, from which Southwest ( LUV ) is offering 260 daily departures this summer.
