Southwest Airlines Signs 2-Year Sustainable Aviation Supply Deal With Valero Energy Unit

11:34 AM EDT, 10/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said Thursday it entered into a two-year agreement to buy sustainable aviation fuel from a unit of Valero Energy ( VLO ) , to be used for its flights out of Chicago Midway International Airport.

Southwest ( LUV ) said it will buy a minimum of 3.6 million gallons of neat sustainable aviation fuel with an option to acquire up to 25 million gallons over the agreement's term from Valero Marketing and Supply Company.

The airline company said Diamond Green Diesel, a joint venture between a Valero affiliate and Darling Ingredients ( DAR ) , will supply the aviation fuel.

Financial terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
