Southwest Airlines Signs Agreement to Draw up Plans for California Electric Air Taxi Network
Jul 12, 2024 6:15 AM

08:49 AM EDT, 07/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines Company ( LUV ) and Archer Aviation ( ACHR ) said Friday they have signed a memorandum of understanding to come up with plans for electric air taxi networks using Archer's Midnight electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft at the 14 California airports where the airline operates.

The companies said Midnight replaces 60-to-90-minute car commutes with 10-to-20-minute electric air taxi flights.

"This is a key step toward potentially offering Southwest ( LUV ) customers an airport transport service that saves time by streamlining the door-to-door passenger journey," the company said.
