Southwest Airlines to charge $35 for first checked bag, WSJ reports

May 27 (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) will

charge customers $35 for one checked bag and $45 for the second,

bringing an end to the airline's free luggage policy, the Wall

Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

Passengers will be charged unless they hold the airline's

credit card or have elite status, the report said.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.
