01:54 PM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sparton Resources ( SPNRF ) on Monday said it began field operations at the Pense Critical Metals Project, located near Englehart on the Ontario-Quebec border.
New exploration permits from both provinces have been secured, clearing the way for all planned activities, including drilling
The Pense 6,800-hectare claim block draws geological parallels to Finland's renowned Outokumpu massive sulfide deposits, according to the company. On the Ontario side, Sparton identified historical skarn-hosted mineralization at the Verrier and Gagne zones during recent sampling. These areas yielded grab sample values reaching 1.31% copper, 0.32% nickel, and 1.2% zinc-over widths of up to 1.5 meters.
Earlier in 2025, reconnaissance geophysical surveys uncovered new untested targets beyond the previously surveyed zones. Sparton is now conducting electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, while prospecting and sampling are actively ongoing.
"The Pense Property area has been overlooked in recent years and there is enough documented critical metals mineralization on the property to justify continuing the overall exploration program to test all the other targets, both on the Ontario and the Quebec claims", said chief executive Lee Barker.
Shares of Sparton Resources ( SPNRF ) were last seen up $0.01 to $0.03 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
