Spotify's Bundling Practices Draw Scrutiny From US Senators
Jun 23, 2025 9:13 AM

11:43 AM EDT, 06/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Spotify Technology ( SPOT ) faces a call from two US senators for a regulatory probe for allegedly converting premium subscriptions into higher-priced bundled offerings without customers' knowledge or consent.

The company allegedly combined its music streaming and audiobook services into a more costly subscription without getting consent from consumers, Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, and Ben Ray Lujan, a New Mexico Democrat, said in a Friday letter to the Federal Trade Commission.

"These actions harm consumers and could deeply damage the marketplace and the music royalty system," the letter said.

Spotify ( SPOT ) and the FTC didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
