Sprinter Dutee Chand has bagged her first brand endorsement contract with Puma, for a period of two years, Financial Express reported on Monday, adding that her annual endorsement fees will be between Rs 20 - 25 lakh and likely to vary, depending on the number of days in a year that she would be engaged by a particular brand.
As per Adil Mistry, partner, MAAT Jacks Entertainment, Sports and Lifestyle LLP, Chand's sports consultancy firm, there are a few more brands in the pipeline, the report added.
Chand became the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win a gold medal in the World Universiade championship last month.
As part of Puma's brand ambassador, Chand is expected to make appearances at Puma retail outlets, apart from being leveraged on social media, the report said citing sources.
It further added that she will be part of mass media campaigns by the sportswear company, including a women's campaign in October where she will be part of a medley of female sports athletes.
Chand joins an array of athletes which includes retired Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt (the global endorser), cricketers Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, boxer Mary Kom and footballer Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who endorse Puma in India.
