06:11 AM EDT, 05/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- SSR Mining ( SSRGF ) over the weekend said it received a copy of a report related to an investigation of the Feb. 13 Copler mine incident in Turkey, during which a mass of heap leach material collapsed and trapped a group of miners.
The company said it is reviewing the expert committee report of the incident commissioned by the Ilic chief public prosecutor's office. SSR, which received the report on May 24, the day it was made public, has only completed a preliminary review and is continuing its evaluation.
The initial review and assessment of the incident didn't find any material non-conformance with the construction or operation of the heap leach pad relative to the third-party engineered design parameters. Several third-party engineering firms designed and reviewed the Copler heap leach pad SSR said.
