ROME, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Stellantis ( STLA ) Chairman John
Elkann, who is temporarily steering the company following the
resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares, has agreed to appear before
the Italian parliament, the automaker said on Wednesday.
Elkann had previously resisted calls to address Italian
lawmakers, while Tavares had a tense exchange of views with them
in October.
The Stellantis ( STLA ) chairman will speak before the relevant
committees of the lower and upper house of parliament "about the
evolution of the automotive sector in Europe and Italy," a
company statement said.
It was released a day after Fiat-parent Stellantis ( STLA ) presented
an upbeat plan to revive production in Italy, in a major thawing
of previously fraught relations with Rome's nationalist
government.
Stellantis ( STLA ) did not give a date for Elkann's parliamentary
hearing. A spokesperson for the speaker of the lower house of
parliament said it had yet to be scheduled.
