09:28 AM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis' ( STLA ) Chrysler is recalling a total of 19,516 hybrid minivans in the US due to the risk of the battery pack causing a potential fire even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is turned off, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall affects 15,910 2017-2018 Pacifica plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and 3,606 2019-2021 Pacifica models, according to posts on the regulator's website.
"Owners are advised not to charge their vehicles, and to park outside and away from structures, until they are repaired," NHTSA said. "Dealers will update the high voltage battery pack control module (BPCM) software."
Dealers will also check and replace the battery pack assembly, if necessary, NHTSA added.
Stellantis ( STLA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Stellantis ( STLA ) shares fell more than 2% in recent premarket activity.
