10:07 AM EST, 12/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis ( STLA ) contractor Trasnova laid off 97 workers in Italy as Stellantis ( STLA ) is set to terminate its contracts with Trasnova on Dec. 31, according to media reports published Friday.

Labor union Fiom-Cgil said Trasnova workers guarding the gates of the Stellantis ( STLA ) plant in Pomigliano D'Arco received the dismissal letters Friday. Dismissal letters for workers in Melfi, Cassino and Turin also arrived Friday, according to the union, which called for government intervention.

According to the reports, the layoffs were implemented amid uncertainties over the continuation of Stellantis's ( STLA ) production in Italy following the resignation of Chief Executive Carlos Tavares.

Stellantis ( STLA ) and Trasnova did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
