09:17 AM EDT, 03/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis' ( STLA ) Chrysler is recalling more than 38,000 vehicles over fears that the driver's airbag may not properly deploy in a crash, according to a US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration document Tuesday.
The regulator said the vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements. The recall includes certain 2023-2024 Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Gladiator, Chrysler Pacifica, and Chrysler Voyager vehicles.
"The steering column control module may not be welded properly, which can prevent the driver's airbag from deploying in a crash," according to the document.
The regulator said dealers have agreed to inspect and replace the steering column control module, if necessary, without charge.
