Stellantis Unveils $29.5 Million Wind Tunnel Technology for EV Efficiency

11:27 AM EDT, 10/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis ( STLA ) said Wednesday it invested $29.5 million in its Auburn Hills, Michigan research center to enhance electric vehicle range with upgraded wind tunnel technology.

The new Moving Ground Plane system optimizes aerodynamic testing, potentially increasing EV range and enabling smaller battery sizes, resulting in cost and weight savings, Stellantis ( STLA ) said.

Separately, Stellantis ( STLA ) said it has partnered with Factorial to advance solid-state battery technology for next-gen EVs. Stellantis ( STLA ) plans to launch a demonstration fleet of Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles by 2026 using Factorial's FEST solid-state batteries.

Stellantis ( STLA ) shares were up nearly 2% in recent trading.
