11:12 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sunrun ( RUN ) said Wednesday it is now operating a vehicle-to-home power plant through a group of clients' EVs in Maryland under a collaboration with Baltimore Gas and Electric, an Exelon ( EXC ) unit.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The initiative will use three Sunrun's ( RUN ) clients' Ford Motor ( F ) all-electric F-150 Lightning trucks for power delivery to owners' homes this summer to support Maryland's power grid, the company added.
The US Department of Energy provided a grant to Baltimore Gas and Electric for creating an electric vehicle virtual power plant, Sunrun ( RUN ) said. Baltimore Gas and Electric collaborated with Sunrun ( RUN ) to develop and administer the program.
Sunrun ( RUN ) also said it will oversee the enrolled F-150 Lightning trucks from June 1 to Sept. 30, while clients will receive a roughly $800 payment, based on their energy shared, over the four months of the program.
Sunrun's ( RUN ) stock was up 4% in recent Wednesday trading, while Exelon ( EXC ) edged up by 0.8%.
