07:57 AM EST, 02/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Supremex ( SUMXF ) on Thursday reported higher fourth-quarter adjusted profit.
Adjusted net earnings were $5.2 million or $0.20 per share for the three-month period ended December 31, compared with $2.2 million or $0.09 per share for the equivalent period in 2023.
Total revenue fell 4.5% to $69.1 million, with decreases in both the envelope segment and packaging and specialty products segments.
In its outlook, Supremex ( SUMXF ) said it is continuing to expand in the fragmented U.S. envelope market, but notes that the tariffs potential may lead it to adjust its business strategy. The imposition of protectionist trade measures could have a material impact on the company, it added.
"Supremex ( SUMXF ) delivered significant profitability gains in the fourth quarter, driven by optimization initiatives across both businesses and gradually improving market conditions," said Stewart Emerson, Chief Executive Officer. "Our Envelope segment reported slight volume gains that were tempered by lower mix-related pricing during the quarter. As for Packaging, e-commerce fulfilment activities remained solid, partially offsetting a reduction in specialty printing, while markets subject to discretionary consumer demand continued to recover."
Supremex ( SUMXF ) will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.05 on April 4.
