11:34 AM EDT, 06/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Surf Air Mobility ( SRFM ) Tuesday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Asta Linhas Aereas to upgrade up to four of the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft flown by the Brazilian regional air carrier with its electrified powertrains once they are certified.

Surf Air said it is working to develop supplemental certifications for hybrid and fully electric engines to power the 10- to 14-seat passenger aircraft built by Textron's ( TXT ) Cessna, replacing RTX's (RTX) Pratt & Whitney turboprop engines for Grand Caravan aircraft.

Financial terms of the preliminary agreement were not disclosed.
