April 21 (Reuters) - Swedish trucking company Einride said on Tuesday it had partnered with Amazon.com ( AMZN ) to deploy 75 manually operated electric heavy-duty trucks and supporting charging infrastructure across five U.S. locations for the e-commerce giant's freight network.
Here are the details:
-- Einride said its proprietary optimization software, Saga AI, will be used to manage electric vehicle execution for select Amazon ( AMZN ) loads, including charging planning.
-- The financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
-- The U.S. electric trucking market has struggled to match early expectations, following setbacks at companies such as Nikola and a slower-than-anticipated rollout of Amazon's ( AMZN ) electric delivery vans developed with Rivian.
-- Amazon ( AMZN ) has been increasingly leaning on operators such as Einride, which provide vehicles, charging infrastructure and fleet-management software, allowing the company to advance electrification efforts without directly owning and operating all assets.
-- In February, Einride said it had raised around $113 million of private investment in public equity.
-- Einride is pursuing a public listing in the first half of this year through its planned merger with blank-check firm Legato Merger Corp III.
